The collection showcased in Atlanta’s campaign, which is available in store and online now, features an eclectic mix of aztec inspired prints, leather outerwear and layered styling. The companies new slogan for the collection is #SHOPLAYERREPEAT which I find really cool as everyone loves to layer this time of year. Forever 21 spoke to Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor about her life, growing up with famous parents and within the fashion industry, her style and her picks. You can read some of her quotes on the questions below.
On growing up with famous parents: “Growing up as de Cadenet Taylor was pretty cool, I’m not going to lie! Obviously, I spent a lot of time going to shows and concerts. It was pretty awesome getting to go around town with my father (Duran Duran bassist John Taylor) and I always got great clothes from my mom (photographer Amanda de Cadenet), so I’ve been raiding her closet since the day I could!”
How has growing up in the music and fashion industry influenced your style? “It’s impossible to say it hasn’t. That’s what I grew up around and that’s how I ended up dressing. I saw everyone I knew was wearing vintage clothes, and my mom has an amazing vintage collection so I would just go through and take things. We all steal each other’s clothes at this point. That was just normal to me and that’s what I just started wearing. I just liked it and it worked out.”
How would you describe your style? “It’s always such a hard question! I switch a lot between dressing like a total boy where I’m really comfortable in jeans and boots and baggy t-shirts, but I also love really lady-like dresses. I love anything with a collar buttoned all the way up, but then I usually throw my leather jacket on top. I like to mix it up between looking like girly and then have that boyish feel.”
What are some key items to achieve a layered look? “Pair tights, maybe cute socks, a leather jacket for sure and a hoodie. I always wear a hoodie underneath a jacket.” “A leather jacket fixes everything. It’s true.”
