Topshop has just partnered with Key to Freedom, an initiative set up to support charity Women’s Interlink Foundation by creating a collection of four beautiful printed scarves, hand-crafted by vulnerable women from West Bengal, to be sold in Topshop stores!
The project works with young women who have been exposed from an early age to domestic abuse, and in many cases been trafficked into the sex trade by providing them with accommodation in safe houses. Once there, they are taught skills such as sewing and textile printing, in order to produce sellable garments which will enable them to become economically independent.
Topshop has proudly committed to support the initiative for a year, working directly with the women to help develop products, and for the first time, selling the scarves outside of India in a selection of stores around the world. The money made from the sales will allow the women to earn a living as well as further funding more sites to support those in need.
Four exquisite silk scarves will be sold exclusively in Topshop, including two pretty traditional Indian printed designs in pink and cobalt blue. Two brightly coloured tie-dye options are perfect for summer-holiday dressing and can be worn as scarves or sarongs.
Topshop will donate all of its profits from the sale of the scarves to the Key to Freedom initiative to support the Women’s Interlink Foundation. The collection launched on the 18th July and will be sold in London Oxford Circus, Brompton Road, White City, New York, LA, Las Vegas and online at Topshop.com. The scarves will retail at £32 and you can also check out the Key To Freedom website by clicking here.
