Men’s Outfit Ideas For Christmas Parties

When it comes to parties there are so many options for girls, from the little black dress and leather skirts, to embellished tops and structured shorts. But I always think men’s choices seem a little limiting. So here are some ideas to create interesting party looks for men using key pieces that can be dressed up or down, whether it’s for the office Christmas party or a night out with the guys.

Velvet Blazer
Velvet has been all over the catwalks this year, for men and women, but it’s a harder look for the guys to get right. In fact, the wrong velvet jacket can look old fashioned and unflattering. I’ve seen some beautiful examples that break up the velvet with different fabrics and colours, like a silk lapel or satin pockets. Styled right, a velvet jacket gives a chic look, whether he wants to go for vintage look with a polka dot bow tie and slicked back hair, or more modern with a skinny tie and tailored trousers. Knightsbridge Neckwear have a fantastic range of ties that can be styled with a velvet jacket for a stylish Christmas look.

The Party Jumper
It’s Christmas so a party jumper is a must. But the problem is that when I think of a festive jumper, I picture Bridget Jones’ Diary with Mr Darcy’s terrible reindeer knit that his mum made him wear. A huge fashion faux pas – just like the new trend of beard baubles. There are so many great men’s jumpers that are festive without being garish. Christmas colours like deep reds, greens or even dark blues are great when covered with a fair isle print. But with a Christmas party jumper, less is definitely more.

A Touch of Tartan
As you’ll know, tartan has been all over the catwalks for the last couple of years. Adding a splash of tartan to any outfit makes it feel Christmassy, but it’ll also be bang on trend. Tartan is versatile and there are so many ways for men to wear it, whether it’s a tartan shirt, suit jacket, tailored trousers, or a scarf. I love the dapper look which would work by wearing grey trousers, a shirt, a pair of burgundy loafers and a tartan scarf or bow tie. Braces and a sleek leather belt would add a touch of sophistication. But what do you think, are you still a fan of tartan?
