My blogger spotlight is on the adorable Yujin from the fashion blog, La Celestials. She blogs from LA and NY, so you get to travel with her on her journeys and also share her gorgeous style! It’s very feminine, girly and sweet, but it has a little kick to it! Check out her interview just below!
What’s your history in the fashion industry?
I guess my interest in fashion stems from my mother because she studied fashion when she was in college, and she would always encourage me and my younger sister to wear whatever made us happy and confident. Although I am not a professional in the industry, I have worked for my college’s newspaper, writing about college beauty and style, and I currently work as a fashion public relations intern for a PR company Karla Otto.
What made you decide to start your fashion blog?
Initially, my younger sister and I started the blog ‘La Celestials’ together because we wanted to expand our interest in fashion beyond just posting outfit photos on Instagram or Facebook. We had fun posting on the blog for a couple months, but she was too busy to continue on, so I decided to take full control of what is now ‘La Celestials’. I consider my blog a place where I can express my creativity with fashion without hesitating and I truly enjoy writing my thoughts, feelings, opinions about not just fashion, but everyday life, to communicate with my audience.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Living in New York City, you have the opportunity to witness so many fashionable people on the streets. I do my occasional people watching and get inspired from their outfits–could be simple or could be outrageous but I appreciate how people can wear what they want to wear without feeling self-conscious. I also love watching YouTube videos–most notably, Jenn Im of ClothesEncounters–and get inspired from them.
How would you describe your personal style?
This is a tricky question because it honestly depends on my mood for that day! Sometimes, I want to be lazy and comfortable so I’ll throw on high waisted jeans and a T-shirt, chuck on a duster coat and slip into my leopard sneakers, but there are days when I want to look girly, grungy, simple, and the list goes on. I do enjoy experimenting with new trends, but also like to stick to the good old classic pieces.
Do you have some favorite pieces in your closet?
I love jeans, and my ultimate favorite pair of jeans are the American Apparel Easy Jeans in the dark wash. They are high-waisted and stretchy so that you don’t feel constricted when wearing them. I love anything high-waisted because I am petite (I’m 5 foot 2) and I try to make myself look taller than I am! I also love stomping around in my Vagabond Grace Platform Ankle Boots because they are so comfortable to walk around in but it gives me some extra height with the heel.
What is the one thing you can’t be without?
Definitely hats! I know I’m cheating a little here, but my hats are my babies! My most recent hat from Urban Outfitters, which is a navy blue fedora, is the one I’ve been wearing the most! I think hats complete any kind of boring look and really sets you apart from the others because not many people think to wear them!
