Marc by Marc Jacobs SS15 Ready To Wear

Marc By Marc Jacobs showed the Ready To Wear Spring 2015 collection during New York Fashion Week last week and I fell in love with it! I was a huge fan of the rubber wellington boots that Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley showcased as well as the plastic acrylic bags! Those two pieces really caught my eye and I fell in love with them. The colour palette was filled with pastels in pink, blue, green and yellow and polka dots played a huge part of it. There were even some really gorgeous latex gloss leggings which were featured on some of the models legs and arms in black and nude.

Both ladies loved the idea of the freedom of that kind of low, EDM culture. “Taking something like a filthy, disused warehouse and turning it into this church of youth.” “Be who you are” would be the mantra of the spring Marc by Marc girl. So much plastic and silk was used and it definitely turned out great. I can sort of see where the EDM vibe comes from, especially with the styling, some models having buns and mohawks while others were dressed in plastic dresses and skirts. It definitely seemed like a really fun collection!

The pastels and plastic treatments – on dresses, legs, moulded bags and rubber boots – were taken from the Ferus Gallery, which represented Craig Kauffman, Robert Irwin and Larry Bell in the late Fifties and Sixties in Los Angeles. The colour and shine lent a sense of lightness, movement and euphoria to the lineup, making it into a collection that I personally can’t wait for! Check out the new looks in the gallery below!
