Here is the new Balmain Fall Winter 2014 Ready To Wear collection which showed during Paris Fashion Week. Designer Olivier Rousteing is very much used to going all out with heavy moto detailing, leather, chains and fur, which mainly shot the brand into the limelight after years of collections, and this season it was much the same.
Instead of moto being a trend though, it was army and military inspired, with heavy khaki leather pieces with pockets draped over the models bodies. Neon fur was also popular, while heavy embellishments were everywhere. Balmain always has an essence to it which reminds me of outfits that Rihanna would wear, they are masculine, heavy and over the top, but that’s what makes them Balmain! Olivier said “Freedom, and part of my youth,” was the main inspiration for the Fall Winter 2014 collection, “This time, the only travel I did was to myself, to my generation and to global ethnicities.” and I can see how that translates as none of these outfits correspond to a cultural theme in my opinion.
