Here is the brand new Marc Jacobs Fall Winter 2014 Ready To Wear collection which closed New York Fashion Week. I’m always so excited for the new Marc Jacobs collection as he is one of my favourite designers. I was expecting an amazing show with lots of props and details, but it was the complete opposite actually! The set was a winding catwalk which weaved between the rows of seats and there were plastic clouds all above, perfectly matching the hypnotic song that Marc chose, So let’s tell the world about it now, Happy days are here again…

The show was a huge contrast to last season which was very dramatic, dark and Victorian inspired and this time around is was very light, airy and soft with pastel tones, lightweight fabrics and mermaid inspired dresses. “There’s always a reaction to the thing before, the idea of wanting to see things that seem fresh and unadorned,” Marc Jacobs mentioned during a preview. “I wanted to keep it very light, very soft, very fresh, and a very neutral palette with just slight hints of color, cosmetics colors.” and I think he definitely achieved that! “We looked at women like Meryl Streep and Jessica Lange. Women we admire and respect and who have a sort of strength without any aggressivity, and without it being a discussion about youth.”

The models were barefaced and each had a short, straight cut bob wig, giving them a simplistic vibe to go with the clothes. Everything was incredibly minimal, it all blended in very nicely without a bold colour in sight! Pinks, lilac, peach, taupe and white covered the pieces with long slits and gentle layers playing a big part. Everything was very retro in terms of era and gave a nod to the 60’s, which was great to see. There were some bomber jackets in ombre pastel tones, which were beautiful, but they were made of fur. If they were faux fur they would have been amazing! I have to say that my favourite pieces from the collection were definitely the last few dresses which were ruffled with ombre. They were so pretty and elegant, I loved them! You can also watch my video just below as well as seeing the looks in the gallery. What do you think of the new Marc Jacobs Fall Winter Ready To Wear 2014 collection? Did you like it?

  1. Very beautiful collection, subtle, demure, not typically in the scope of Marc’s fashion-wise DNA. Floating dresses in light earthy hues, just perfectly reflecting the idea of the hanging clouds above people’s heads. Loved it! Zhanna, http://www.stylehenge.com
