Rodarte Fall Winter 2014 Ready To Wear – New York Fashion Week

Here is the new Rodarte Fall Winter 2014 Ready To Wear collection from New York Fashion Week. It had a different theme to it from most; “Things that you would imagine you want to wear when you were younger, or even just our understanding of the time period we grew up in,” said Laura Mulleavy, co-designer with Kate Mulleavy. Sisters Kate and Laura were born in 1979 and 1980, so their clothes were reminiscent of the 80’s, giving it a retro theme like a lot of other designers chose to do. The clothes were a lot softer and prettier this time around, especially compared to their Spring Summer 2014 collection.

They had some gorgeous colours in the mix, ranging from yellows and oranges to pinks and blues, some in metallic and pastel hues. There was a lot of chiffon and layers, mixed with glittery sequin embellishments. So there was literally something for everyone in this collection and it’s hard to even begin to explain, but they had everything from skirts, trousers and dresses as well as sweaters, coats, scarves, wraps and more. They had some quirky prints from Star Wars too, including Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, R2-D2 and even Yoda, mixed with some Aztec styles too. Another big trend for the Rodarte Autumn Winter 2014 line was turtlenecks. They had them everywhere in various fabrics and colours, even layered underneath long lace gowns and shearling jackets.
