The new Alexander Wang Fall Winter 2014 Ready To Wear collection showed at New York Fashion Week and was just as I expected! It was very futuristic, bright, bold and intriguing. Getting to the show for many was quite an ordeal as directions were difficult and it was in an awkward place, the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn Navy Yard, but I think it was worth it. Moving onto the clothes though, I don’t think anyone was disappointed!
“We started with this idea of extreme conditions and started thinking about survival,” said Alexander Wang during a preview in which he mentioned National Geographic, the great outdoors, competitive sports and the urban landscape. This meant that his collection had sporty silhouettes which were intricately detailed. He also had tailored tunics and shirts paired together as the baseline for his looks throughout the show. For the outerwear, the jackets were almost military inspired with fitted coats which had baggy pockets positioned all over the front and then he moved onto coats, which were puffy and much more suitable for a strong winter. Even the sweaters were really pretty, they were woven and knotted in neon colours and quite boxy, but I can definitely see these being worn by celebs! I also saw a lot of geometrical prints and pinafore style dresses, but you can see the full Alexander Wang Fall Winter 2014 collection in the gallery below and you can buy his current collection online at Shopbop.

Quite a masculine looking collection, a lot of military elements are employed, which definitely is overshadowing any glimpse of femininity. One can actually get confused whether this clothing is meant for women, there was literally one or two looks with skirts apart from that nothing was accentuating any female side to the collection. I liked the knits a lot, but with my petite height can’t imagine myself wearing such chunky jumper. <3 Zhanna, http://www.stylehenge.com
Yeah, Alexander Wang always does his collections like that. They are very unisex!
