Here is the brand new Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall Winter 2014 Ready To Wear collection which literally just walked at New York Fashion Week an hour ago. I am always excited to see both of his collections as I am a huge fan, however I wasn’t over the moon about this one. Marc watched on from the front row as the models took to the catwalk. Designing duo Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier were the brains behind this new collection and it’s actually the first time that anyone else has had creative control over the brand other than Marc.

As for the trends during the Fall Winter 2014 show, it was very mixed. It started out with military inspired themes with olive and khaki green suits, belted at the waist and buttoned to the neck, tucked into combat boots. Then it ventured into motor cycle racing trends with bright blues, reds and patterns/slogans all over the trousers and jackets. These were tucked into biker boots and some of the models even had bandanas around their mouths and racing prints on their tights. It then went into a Victorian inspired theme with long tulle skirts and structured jackets, all very representative of the Victorian era. Mixed in amongst the themes you could find some red tartan too and a lot of chunky platform boots and shoes.

In all honesty, I wasn’t overly impressed with this collection and usually I absolutely adore Marc by Marc Jacobs, so I’m quite sad that he’s no longer in charge. The brands definitely taken a different turn in my opinion. What did you think of the new Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall Winter 2014 collection? I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below! 1. After seeing the Marc Jacobs’s collection, I have got the overall impressions:

very urban, I think it will be absolute hit with Japanese teenagers in particular, very military-like, reminded me of fashionable soldiers, lieutenants, sergeants etc… , awkward styling : long socks, high lacey boots and a huge pussy bow nbetween neck and almost belly button (my belly button for sure, because I am not as tall as models are) may be this is the innovative styling approach offered by Marc, who knows.

I cannot say: ‘Mmm I didn’t like it’, the only thing I can say: Not my cup of tea.
Lorna, love your both blogs, fantastic job!

      • Hi, Lorna, do you really think so? you made me really happy right now, because I have never thought of myself that way, my obsession with fashion used to be on a backburner for about 7 years until I started my blog and I had to indulge myself into all the blogs and fashion websites to seek more knowledge, but thank you so much for your lovely comment! <3 Zhanna
