Trend – Red Plaid & Shirts Around Waists

I check other fashion blogs on a daily basis and one thing I have been noticing that’s cropping up as a trend at the moment is plaid, specifically in red and also shirts tied around the waist. I know red plaid has always been popular, but this time it’s popular in the way of tying the shirts around your waist for fashion instead of practicality, or even dressing up a plaid mini skirt to look stylish instead of trashy.

Two great examples here are Aimee Song from Song of Style above and Chiara Ferragni from The Blonde Salad below. I check both of these girls blogs every day and adore their style as well. I adored Aimee’s look as usually I find plaid/tartan mini skirts to look trashy, however since she paired it with black and then added the shirt around the waist, it really tones it down and makes it look like day wear. Chiara’s look is great too. Hers is a little different as she has an entire black outfit, but it’s broken up by the actual lining of her leather jacket being red plaid. I’m definitely in love with this trend! Are you?
